For Our Baseball, Softball and DI/OM Customers

It’s no secret that the novel coronavirus has disrupted virtually every aspect of our lives, including sports and other competitive events. Little League, Cal Ripken Baseball, Cooperstown Dreams Park, and many other youth leagues have canceled their 2020 seasons.

Obviously, those cancellations affect our business here at Trading Pins Direct. But we’re more disappointed for the millions of youth league players whose excitement at the prospect of playing baseball and softball this summer has been lost. And we’re sad for the thousands of Destination ImagiNation and Odyssey of the Mind members who had been dreaming of attending their international finals events.

For us, there will be another season next year, or sooner. But for many young athletes and DI/OM members, this year would have been their last opportunity to compete at the regional or national level.

If you’re a parent or coach of one of those competitors, listen to them. Let them vent their disappointment and sadness to you. Let them know you’re still proud of them and everything they’ve accomplished so far. And remind them this situation won’t last forever. There will be other opportunities in life.

If you have younger players in the family, be sure to encourage them to keep practicing, and stay positive. Hear them out too if they need to express their frustration. Remind them that they’ll still be able to compete later.

One idea that can engage the entire family is learning more about the history of the game. How much does your Little Leaguer know about baseball’s beginnings? When did the Hall of Fame start? Who were the first players enshrined in it? How would earlier players stack up against those of today?  (We know, that’s a debate that can go on for a LONG time!)

Stay positive, support your young competitors and remember, the restrictions we’re under today will eventually end. When you’re ready to order custom trading pins again, for baseball, softball, DI, OM, or any other competitive sports or events, Trading Pins Direct is ready to serve all your trading pin needs. Stay Strong and Stay Safe.
